Welcome to the website of Joanne’s PURE organic grain fed eggs.

“Hi, my name is Joanne Tamvakis. My husband Con and I are second generation Gippsland Egg Farmers.

If like us, you’re concerned about the use of pesticides, herbicides and antibiotics* in food production, you can be certain that our hens are fed only, pure, certified Organic grains supplied exclusively by Country Heritage Feeds, Australia’s leading supplier of Certified Organic Grains.

We call them, ‘the best fed hens in Australia’ because we know the food they eat is free of poisons and so are the eggs they lay. We call them Puriganic Eggs.

“At Joanne’s Eggs we are committed to providing the highest quality, all natural, organic grain fed eggs. That’s why you will see on our cartons, a guarantee that the eggs inside contain no added antibiotics.

With the rise of antibiotic resistant “Superbugs”, we should all be concerned about their overuse and misuse.”

“The hens are housed in hen- coops and are fed under quarantined conditions. This method not only protects the birds from coming into contact with poisons, diseases and virus carrying rodents and wild birds, but also protects the consumer.

Hens are well cared for in a supportive environment to maintain a healthy egg.

Our Puriganic eggs are recommended for expectant mothers.

Recent work has shown fetal response to incredibly small dilutions of poisons such as chemical pesticides.

Developing nervous tissue seems particularly vulnerable.”

“Our girls are cared for in a supportive environment to maintain a healthy life and a healthy egg.”

“Why our passion for Puriganic Eggs?”

“Professor Peter Curson, an Australian expert in medical Geography has stated that when farmed poultry came into contact with wild birds and animals, it raised the chance of the spread of respiratory and other viruses.

Viruses responsible for SARS and BIRD FLU could spread from wildlife to poultry and other farmed animals, and on rare occasions, mutate into human infections.

Recently, Professor Curson’s worst fears came true in New South Wales where over 450,000 hens were destroyed because of an outbreak of bird flu.

It is a tragedy that did not and does not have to happen.

We love our hens and we care deeply for their health and well-being.”

“We call them Natures Vitamin Capsule.”

“Joanne’s Pure Organic Grain Fed Eggs are a highly nutritious food that can make an important contribution to a healthy, well balanced diet. They are a natural source of at least 11 different vitamins and minerals as well as high quality protein, omega-3 fats and antioxidants.

Due to the variety of nutrients found in eggs, they can make a significant contribution to increasing daily nutrient intakes.

In fact, research shows egg consumers have higher intakes of vitamins A, E, B12 and folate compared to non-egg consumers.

They are particularly useful for people following a restricted diet or for those who have increased nutrient requirements such as ovo-vegetarians, women who are pregnant, children, sports people and the elderly.”

The protein in Joanne’s eggs is the highest-quality protein found in any food.

“One egg has lots of vitamins and minerals, high-quality protein and antioxidants, all for 70 calories.

The nutrients in eggs can play a role in weight management, muscle strength, healthy pregnancy, brain function, eye health and more.

High-quality protein in eggs provides the mental and physical energy families need for a healthy life.”

Nutrient-rich, all-natural eggs are a welcome addition to any diet.

Healthy pregnancy: Egg yolks are an excellent source of choline, an essential nutrient that contributes to fetal brain development and helps prevent birth defects. Two eggs provide about 250 milligrams of choline, or roughly half of the recommended daily intake for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Brain function: Choline also aids the brain function of adults by maintaining the structure of brain cell membranes and is a key component of the neuro-transmitter that helps relay messages from the brain through nerves to the muscles.

Eye health: Lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants found in egg yolks, help prevent macular degeneration, a leading cause of age-related blindness.Though eggs contain a small amount of these two nutrients, research shows that the lutein from eggs may be more bioavailable than lutein from other food sources.

The nutrient package of eggs aids in the following:

Weight management: The high-quality protein in eggs helps you to feel fuller longer and stay energized, which contributes to maintaining a healthy weight.

Muscle strength and muscle-loss prevention: Research indicates that high-quality protein may help active adults build muscle strength and help prevent muscle loss in middle-aged and aging adults.
